Updates and Important Info

First, what a great meet! Maroon team won the meet last night and will get no practice tomorrow - they still need to be in the class period though. Great job to all!

Below are a few updates and reminders:

The FINALIZED schedule for Aquatics is completed for the year - new events have been added since the parent meeting, so please print this out!  It can also be located under the parent info tab on the home page.

We are coming up on a UIL grade check. It is based on the 6 weeks progress reports - and is this coming Tuesday (there is a grace period for teachers to get the grades entered). The 9-weeks UIL Eligibility schedule can be located under the parent info tab on the home page.  There have been some questions concerning how AP and preAP classes are handled at this UIL check. The first 6 week check is basically a free pass for AP and most preAP classes (you can be failing and still eligible), but not for regular level classes and some preAP classes. At the 9 week check (Oct 13), all classes (including AP's and preAP's) must be a passing grade to remain eligible to swim.

There is a 1 time waiver that can be used for either one AP, preAP, or AA class - the waiver is used only at the discretion of the coach, and needs to be signed by the coach, principal and the parent. Aquatics, for the swim season, will only consider a waiver at the end of the 2nd nine weeks grading period.

Below an 80 on a progress report (in any class) means that the athlete, per the Aquatics handbook, is required to go to mandatory tutorials (Tuesday and Thursday) for at least 30 minutes, get a note signed by the teacher, and the note needs to be delivered to Coach Halford. A note is required for every tutorial for every Tuesday and Thursday. This requirement goes away after the next grade check, assuming the grade is then above an 80. For example, if you have a 79 in a class on your progress report, until your next progress report/grade check (that is above an 80), then the athlete will have to attend tutorials every Tuesday and Thursday and deliver the note from the teacher to Coach Halford on Wednesdays and Fridays.
