Welcome back Wildcats!! I hope you all had a great break and are ready for the spring semester. This email will have all of the information you will need for the month of January…hopefully.
January 7th @ 7:00 – Booster Club meeting
This meeting is big because this coming weekend we are hosting our annual swim invitational and we need your help to make it run smoothly. In the next section is the link for the volunteer opportunities. Also it will cover several of the other up coming team events for this month.
Jan 8th – 10th && Jan 14th – 16th (Varsity athletes only) – Fashion Week
All athletes will be practicing fully dressed in pants and a shirt. This is an old concept of swimming in drag suits but hopefully with a fun twist that the kids get to pick what they want their fashion to be. Its also cheaper to wear clothes they already have as opposed to going and buying a drag suit. Varsity athletes will be dressing up for 3 days the next 2 weeks and JV athletes will only be dressing up this week.
January 10th -12th – Mardi Gras Swim Meet at CCHS
Our annual swimming invitational is this coming weekend. We are still in need of several volunteers for many different jobs. https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showSignUp/4090944aba62aa0fc1-mardi2
This meet is bigger than a normal dual meet and as such we need more help to make it all work. Entries for this meet will be posted in the pool tomorrow when the kids get to the pool. Athletes swimming in the meet will miss school all day on Friday, so they will need to get their work from their teachers beforehand.
Athletes not swimming in this meet will be the timers for finals on Saturday.
January 14-15 – Water Polo Try Outs
Water Polo Tryouts will be next week. Any athlete who would like to try out needs to be at try outs or communicate with Coach Halford their intention if their sport is still in season (ex. Basketball has games on Tuesday for basketball players would make up that try out portion later). I have attached the flyer for try outs for everybody to view.
At CCHS water polo is a secondary sport, all athletes must have participated in a UIL approved athletic activity during the Fall semester.
January 17- JV District, January 23 - Varsity District, January 30- Varsity Regional Pasta Dinners
Each year we gather together to celebrate the long season and get ready for the big meets upcoming. All athletes and parents are encouraged to attend all 3 dinners. More information about these will be coming out I just want to put them in on your radar.
January 18 - District 24-6A JV Swim meet
The JV District Meet will be held at Alvin HS this year. I have attached the flyer for this meet with all the information.
January 19 – Good bye to Seniors Dual meet @ Lamar
All athletes will swim at the Good bye to Seniors meet, JV and Varsity.
*Non-senior athletes who are on the regional taper schedule will be allowed to swim at the MLK club meet if they make arrangements with me by Wednesday Jan 9.
**Athletes on district taper should not enter or swim in the MLK weekend club meet. They will be entered in this sprint style meet.
January 24, Diving && January 25, Swimming - District 24-6A Swim meet
The district swim meet will be held at Texas city Natatorium this year. This meet is eerily close, less than 3 weeks away. We have a hosting responsibility at this meet that we will need volunteers for and that link will come out later.
January 31, Diving && February 1&2, Swimming Region 6 Swim Meet
The regional swim meet will be held at Pearland Rec Center Natatorium this year. Only athletes who qualify will be attending this meet.
JV District – JV district swimmers will begin their taper schedule on Jan 14 in preparation for JV district later that week. For those also trying out for water polo after school on Monday and Tuesday, we will do a drop set on Wednesday and Thursday to get them ready for their meet.
Varsity Swimmers will have 2 taper schedules depending on the level of the athlete. Taper for the District meet will begin on January 16th. Taper for the Regional meet will begin on January 23. Each taper schedule is designed a little differently depending on the event the athlete will swim but they will all last between 8-10 days.
